Is there any way to make a waistband stay flat against the avatar?
I'm making trousers and EVERY TIME, the waistband folds, collapses and sometimes even squirms and jiggles.
It's horrible. It's spoiling my enjoyment of MD in spite of significant progress I'm making in the design of trousers.
it would help us to analyze the problem if you included a picture or two. Have shots with both the 3D and the 2D windows, and make sure the whole avatar can be seen in both, as well as close-ups of the specific area. There could be a number of causes for the issue, so give us as much information as possible, so an explanation can be narrowed down.
It's a remarkable thing but somehow I seem to find a solution AFTER I've asked for help here. It was a measurement issue. So obvious when I stop pounding my head and think.
Glad you found it!
Use the strain/ stress viewing mode to check if patterns are to tight.
For anyone who has the same problem, the solution is here.
Curvature.

Seeing this was a mega facepalm moment for me.
Mega.
Yes a more form fitting pattern piece can solve fit. However in many realworld patterns the waist band will be straight as that keeps the textile weave (and texture) true to the pattern piece (grainline). So in CG garments you can take a few shortcuts - but ensure you don't snooker yourself when it comes to texturing.
