Hi there,
So, I need to create a cloth reveal animation. Just pulling off cloth to reveal underlying letters. Nothing too serious.
I tried using the Wind for it, but there are two issues there -
1. The fabric folds over itself
2. The speed is too random.
I need to use some kind of a rig to pull the fabric off the letters... I saw some articles on pin animation, but I didn't really get the gist of it.
Is there any way I can use MD tools to create a pulling motion that will be both realistic, as well as more controllable than the Wind system?
Your help is much appreciated.
Thanks!
To create a single point pin, hold down the W key while you select a spot using the left-mouse button.
To create a larger pin selection, hold down the Selection tool [third icon from the left in the 3D window icon menu] to get an option for either a Pin (box) or Pin (Lasso).
Once your pin has been created, start the simulation running. While it is running, you can 'grab' the pin with the Hand tool, and move it.
That's all. Nothing more complicated than that.
You could add a second avatar (that is animated) to act as a hidden object puller, then using tack to the cloth over your cloth over the avatar letters below and going to the animated object (acting as the puller), you can adjust the thread length for any tack in the settings.
Other things you can do to aid a cloth pulling off is to change the fabric preset / Avatar friction settings, and dampening settings so it doesn't flick too much on recoil and that it slides off more easily.
