My 2D Pattern Window doesn't has any avatar's shadow

    Recap:

    - Establish your world space scene scale units (cm) and that unit scale is 1.0

    - That you define your blender xyz axis (swizzle axis vector orientation) so that the object orientates to work with MD's xyz axis (swizzle orientation) and that you save that as a blender named preset [+] to reuse in future

    - Alternatively, that you save your new unit space blender file as a new factory default startup file set to cm (instead of blenders default unit-less world space) using that scene file to generate your MD related blender projects. Blender 2.82 > File > Defaults > Save Startup File

    - Use FBX as the export format where MD automatically orientates the model to match the viewers previous software viewpoint.

So... why isn't the avatar showing up in the 2D view? What an exhaustively long post that completely ignores the OP. I too have this issue, and my imported character is at a human scale.. no issues there... it also fits the outfit I designed on another avatar mesh perfectly, simulates fine in the 3D view. But I want to add a new piece of clothing to the new imported avatar, but cannot design it around the avatar shadow in the 2D view, because it simply isn't there.

Likely you don't have your avatar in the correct spot and formatted correctly. You know ... User error

    >Save< your project file > then try checking you have the avatar placed on the x,y,z axis zero point. If a file is not saved you may not see the updated project. MD will not see any avatar in the 2D window that is not placed on the correct world space 0,0,0 co-ordinate in the 3D window. So if the avatar is forward or behind that point it will not sit in the 2D drafting windows limited viewing plane.

If you add an additional avatar in a scene then delete one you have to ensure the one you are actively working on is on that all important (0,0,0) scene co-ordinate as that is the only silhouette that will appear in the 2D window. Works 100% on MD 10 - just tested it. When posting maybe state what version of MD you are using, what platform OS, and where you avatars zero co-ordinate.
