"It only works for a simulated garment": Auto-fitting and retarget draping

I guess you have to simulate it, if only one frame, and then save and reload it.

You have to appreciate the technology behind the process. Auto fitting to any avatar requires a process using weight map interpolation between the avatar and the garment- mesh. This means to calculate and apply the weight map you need to have some standardised base mesh and factoring between the garment to avatar. Therefore it's likely any historical garments created in older versions would need to also conform to this process. Which would mean at a minimum you need to allow for some Updating (calculation) whereby the auto interpolating uses the preconfigured MD10 avatar/ character simulation to calculate the required weight maps as a set so the weight map transfer can be generated and then applied to your updated garment.

    two options

drape your garment on the default MD avatar. Save your file. Open your custom avatar, import the garments you draped. then run the auto refit.

    or

create fitting suit on a custom avatar, add your custom clothing that fits that avatar. sim a few frames or click re target draping if you opened a md file from a previous version. save the file. open the resized custom avatar. create a fitting suit. import the garments from the previous avatar. auto refit.
