Topology Problems

    Hi,

    Thank you for contacting us,

Currently, after retopology is applied all the sewing relationship is removed.  The retopologies mesh is not suited for simulation and you will get very bad looking result for wrinkles and also get more collision issues.  It is because the mesh density will be low in your retopologies mesh.  The mesh can only bend at the edges of the mesh and for quad it can't bend diagonally.  Retopology should only apply at the end before export after all the adjustments are done, and use for texture baking, point deform, or import to other software for simulation there.

    Hi Brandon,

Thank you for responding. I create clothing for the Daz market (to put it into perspective) and don't take the mesh into Zbrush for example because I get welds that disappear (mesh is in quads) when I remesh in Zbrush. Welding in Zbrush does not fix these issues. With good topology (which I manage to get in MD) I get very good results with dforce. To preserve the folds, I can use SubD in MD. For baking of the textures, I use the original file (copy is for topology). The workaround that I found (which takes extra time) is to do the topology, make a final sim (this mesh I will need for Daz) and sew all the lines together again (extra work). Is there any way that MD could preserve these sewing lines in the future?

    Kind regards
