Supposing you already have a finished cloth mesh with UVs available, which was made in another 3D package, is it possible to import it into MD and perform cloth simulation without a 2D pattern, or is the 2D pattern obligatory?
I ask this because I already have some finished cloths, but their UVs overlap and their borders aren't straight, so it would be too laborious for me to redo the UVs and bake the textures again.
You CAN import OBJ files AS garments and make sure to UNCHECK the "use UV for pattern" box to be able to simulate. It will need to be simulated on an avatar/obj asset and simple (without extra additional items or try to weld it ALL) but that is an option. If it doesn't work and pieces "go flying" it would be best to remove those superfluous items that are causing issues with it when simulating. Its best remove would be anything that is not the cloth mesh to be simulated (top stitches, strings, small pieces, etc). That is a pipeline that people do use with Marvelous Designer.
