My curvature tool is missing from the 2D tool bar.

Without a visual of your tool bar, I can only guess, but here goes.
A couple of things to check:
1. Main menu--- Settings>User Settings>User Interface>Toolbar Is the "Group Tools" box checked or unchecked? Current default is having it checked, which collapses sets of similar tools into one. If checked, then the button to look for will have a small arrow in the bottom-right corner, which indicates it is a multiple option button. You need to press-and-hold on that to see any of the collapsed options. Or uncheck the 'Group Tools' box to make them all visible (as in earlier versions of MD.)
2. Main Menu--- Display>2D toolbar> see if the Pattern Toolbar line is checked. (This is the main pattern editing set of tools.) Since you indicated that only the curvature tool is missing, this is less likely to be the culprit.
3. Have you re-sized your 2D window? The toolbars may hide if the window is too small for some reason.
