Hey all,
Is there a way we can edit the stitch meshes. Whenever I am exporting the obj file with stitches, to 3DMax, the triangle count of the stitches is 20 times more than the actual garment. I cannot upload such a huge file on my website.
I have been looking for this stitch solution for a while!
Any solution is welcomed.
Thanks
Yes > if you export stitches as objects you should take the next step and bake them down from the 3D model into the normal and diffuse maps so they are represented as texture maps on each pattern piece > then apply those maps to the model and the stitches are now light weight images.
MD also has the retopography feature where you can also make a light weight low poly mesh of the garment (low poly) to accompany your high poly small mesh distance cloth model > then you can also bake down the fine creasing to that lower poly garment model.
If you view some of the online tutorials you will find workflows that show this type of thing. So when it comes to stitching it's best to bake them down to a suitably high resolution UV texture map atlas for the fabric patterns (see UV workspace in MD) with UDIM capability.
Hope that helps spin you in the right direction.
:-)
