Hey there, I have a problem where the 2D patterns I draw don't really seem to have enough detail in their topology to properly cover the surface of my avatar. I'm just trying to make a basic tank top and some shorts, but the tank top has very noticeable edges on it in the 3D view. Is there a way to increase the detail in the 3D garment's topology? I've tried turning the particle distance down to 5, but it still has some jagged edges and doesn't look smooth at all.
"Very noticeable edges" "jagged edges" "doesn't look smooth" ... Based solely on those descriptions (since no image is provided to analyze), I would say that you are working with an imported avatar. And, that avatar is too small for the MD world space. MD works on a real-world human figure scale, and the cloth mesh properties at default settings are geared toward that scale. If you are seeing jagged, noticeable edges, then the avatar is so small that the cloth polys are too large by comparison. MD works best (at default settings) with avatars that range from ~1200 to 2000 millimeters (or 120 - 200 cm, or 1.2 - 2 meters) tall.
Check the scale units from the program you are coming from, and the import settings when coming into MD. Choose the import scaling that will bring your avatar to the correct size, either by choosing a different unit scale, or by choosing a percentage change in the Autoscale option.
Yep, that was the issue. Thanks man, I thought I had to add more points in the 2D pattern, but the scaling was the problem. Much obliged :)
