I've tried to make a fitting suit in Version 10. I've tried six times. I've put the 3 points on each section of the avatar, the lines appear and the sections are all checked in the menu.
It JUST WON'T WORK.

Is it a bug?
I have made two fitting suits and both worked. If you have symmetry on, have you been careful to always create your fitting lines on the avatar's right side body parts (the LEFT side of the screen as you view the front of the avatar)?
@... As Vail has said: That error you have encountered is when you cross the sides with symmetry turned ON. Stick with the SCREEN left / avatar's right when you have the symmetry option turned on and you should be fine.
Uhm..................no?
I thought I had to do it on the avatar's left side. I'll give the right side a try.
AND I'M BACK and wow. It only took a couple of minutes and was completely easy.
