I have read other posts similar to my issue. When I first start a garment, I don't notice the Synchronize even happening. Then after a while, the program starts auto-syncing on every single minor edit.
I have reduced my cores, all of my patterns are at 20mm particle distance, I've switched to GPU sim, and the poly count on my garment is fairly low at under 25k total. For comparison, in Blender, I can sculpt with little to no slowdown at over 500k polys or more.
I could understand every change immediately needing to sync if the sim were running. It's not, and I have disabled and hidden everything in the 3D view. I really don't need to see the changes in the 3d view until I start the sim, which I don't do until after I have made the edits I am attempting.
On this particular project, I am moving seams. (A quick aside I cannot translate seams as a group, they have to be moved individually.) It is very frustrating to move a seam an inch then have to wait longer and longer before I can do anything. Often longer than it took to make the edit.
The worst part is, It even auto synchs when I click something and accidentally move the wrong thing and move it back w/o changing it at all. In this case, I click a seam and get the endpoint instead of the seam as a whole. When I realize it is stretching my seam instead of moving it, I put it back to the blue dot snap point, all w/o releasing the mouse. No change is made, and then it is an auto-sync. At some point in every project, you will need to make small tuning edits, and having to wait after every edit makes an already slow process that much slower.
No you cannot manually switch off auto sync.
However you can work smarter around the issue, by setting the draft mesh density for flat patterns being edited low (eg:50mm) to overcome it kicking in so frequently then carry out all garment design edits before you do a high poly count simulation.
Do I have to live with it?
Isn't it possible from programming-side to synchronize only, when the user want to simulate or to exclude this as an external process, which can work in the back?
This is the second thread I found, where someone ask for that, with the same unsatisfiying answer.
Here is my situation: I want to make 5 edits, an after the first edit I wait for half a minute of synchronizationtime. Than I can do 2 or 3 edits and it begins anew to work, also for 30 sec.... Than I can finally make my 5th touch. Than I activate the simulation an I wait anew. Workingtime Artist: 1min., Workingtime program:1:30min. ... .
When I create details like ribbons, riffles, etc. I can't downsample my patterns to 50mm. 10mm are just a bit to rough, to decide, if the ribbon looks fine. While I´m working in the 2D Pattern Window I´m not interested, what happends in the 3D Window, if no simulation is going.
Are there other solutions exept to downsample the geometry?
I'm having the same problem. This is crazy bad.
