Selecting, for example, the Segment Sewing tool in the 2D window or by pressing the N shortcut, does not automatically select the Segment Sewing Tool in the 3D window as well. There is also no feedback on the position of the start point in both windows at the same time, like in previous versions.
I have the latest update installed.

Agreed, there should definitely be an option to let the user use the same shortcut for a tool that is available in the two windows (or even, having the shortcuts be context sensitive in regards to the mouse cursor location).
If I may say : the OP is not having an issue with his shortcuts per say, he is bringing up a design flaw in the application as MD doesn't allow for a unified shortcut to be used for two actions (one in 3D and one in 2D).
Yeah this is really annoying
