I'm currently starting to ramp up on MD 12, but to be honest I've never had much luck with this in previous versions of the software. So I start a new project, pull in an appropraite avatar, set my control scheme to Maya centric camera......then attempt to split the gizmo within the user defined settings.
When I create a pattern piece and attempt to manipulate it with the Q, W, and E keys, I only have access to the move gizmo in the 3D window by default. Attempting to switch to rotating or scaling via Q or E switches focus between the 3D and 2D windows. Is there something else I have to do in order for the split gizmo to take effect?
I am running MD 12 on Win10Pro.
Hi Scott-- I've been running into the same problem. The only way I was able to make this work was to do the following:
Settings/Preferences > Preferences > View Controls > Preset = Regular Mouse. If I try to select 3ds Max (which is the one I want to use) from the drop-down list, the divided gizmo will not function. I can only surmise that there is a shortcut key assignment conflict for the Q,W,E keys when using any other preset besides Regular Mouse. If you've solved this, please share the solution.
