trying to create a specific curtain.

I am trying to create a specific curtain that has deep uniform waves. The attached image is pretty close to what I am trying to create.

The white curtain in the back, the waves are very uniform. I would like to get that, but tighter/closer together. at around :31 they show the pattern, but im not sure what those vertical lines are or what they do.

Any tips, or tutorials on how to get that? I found a few tuts that are close, but I'm still missing something
