Hello,
I have been struggling for an hour with the simulation properties while simulating clothes on an alembic. I have found that the documentation for timesteps is not very clear, or perhaps nonexistent...
Here is my understanding: I have been simulating with 25 frames per second (FPS) animation, and by default, MD has 30 FPS. According to MD, the timestep was set to 0.033 (the math for 1 second/30 FPS = 0.0333).
Therefore, in practice, I need to manually change my FPS to 25 and then calculate the timesteps. I have done the math myself, which I will share below in case anyone needs it:
1 substep per frame: 0.04 seconds 2 substeps per frame: 0.02 seconds 4 substeps per frame: 0.01 seconds 8 substeps per frame: 0.005 seconds 16 substeps per frame: 0.0025 seconds 32 substeps per frame: 0.00125 seconds
My request to the developers is the following: I believe that you can significantly improve our lives, you gorgeous wizards! How about MD computes timestep count by itself according to FPS changes in the project? So artists can only input the number of substeps they want for one frame. For example, we would only write the number 8 for substeps, and MD would look at the framerate of the project and convert timesteps accordingly.
Thank you very much! I love your product, and I believe we will see this feature in the future.
Best regards,
Baji
Thanks for leaving this feedback to us. We will review this and share with dev team.
Hello. I have been working under the impression that you only support 30fps. Do you only still just support 30fps or you support other fps now for an alembic animation import
