Quick Pinching
Objective
Like the existing pinching feature, Quick Pinching allows for fast and simple pinching by pulling the mouse-picked point as a single point.
Location
Quick Pinching is automatically activated while simulation is running:
- Quick Pinching (Q): It is executed by default when the simulation starts.
- 3D Tool Bar ▶ Drop-Down Menu ▶ Quick Pinching (Ver. 2025.0)
Advanced Pinching
Objective
Advanced Pinching is an evolved version of Quick Pinching that allows for precise pinching based on the user's desired area and fall-off settings.
Location
Advanced Pinching can be activated while simulation is running:
- Ver. 2025.0: 3D Tool Bar ▶ Pinching Drop-Down Menu ▶ Advanced Pinching
- Up to Ver. 2024.2: 3D Background Context Menu (Right-click 3D background) ▶ Advanced Pinching (Shift + E)
Operation (2025.0)
- Load a garment into the scene.
- Activate Simulation and select the Select/Move Tool ( Q ).
- (With simulation active) Select Advanced Pinching from the Location above.
- The Advanced Pinch Settings dialog window will pop up (see images below)
- In the Option section, adjust the following tool options to your preference:
Operation (up to ver. 2024.2)
- Load a garment into the scene.
- Activate Simulation and select the Select/Move Tool ( Q ).
- (With simulation active) Right-click the background in the 3D Window to bring up the 3D Background Context Menu.
- Run the Advanced Pinch (Shift + E) option.
- The Advanced Pinch Settings dialog window will pop up (see images below)
- In the Option section, adjust the following tool options to your preference:
| Range | The shape graph reflects the selected Falloff(Shape * Distance * Power) and cannot be manipulated directly. | ||
| Falloff Shape | Select the Falloff Shape: Bump or Linear | ||
| Falloff Distance | Set the distance of the selection range to the radius: Min/max: 1-500(mm) | ||
| Falloff Power | A value that sets the strength of falloff. Min:-2.0 Max:+2.0 | ||
Options | Distance Measure | How the distance from the picking point is measured. | |
| Surface | When multiple layers of patterns are together, only one independent layer will be selected. | ||
| Straight | Select all patterns within a certain distance from the picking point regardless of the layer selected. | ||
| Distance Indicator | Indicates the Falloff Distance/Power values using 2 concentric circles around the pinch icon. When turned off the circles will disappear. | ||
| Limit to Selected Patterns | When selected only one pattern will be affected regardless of whether the Distance Measure is Surface or Straight. | ||
| Display Weights | Displays a contrasting color to the mesh where the weight value is applied. | ||
Modify the Range and Option values and freely pinch the patterns.
