Objective
Manage Trims as a shape or style in the Trim Window. It is possible to create, copy, apply, and set a style in the Trim list window.
Location
Object Browser ▶ Trim (Ver. 2025.0)
Main Menu ▶ Object Browser ▶ Trim (Ver. 2025.0)
Operation
Open Asset Library
- Open the Asset Library tab in Location.
- Select the Asset Library icon
to open the default location for Trim assets in the New Library Window.
Add & Apply one or more Trim Styles
1. Click Add at the top right to load a file( .trm, .obj, .fbx or .zip)to use as Trim.
or Main Menu ▶ File ▶ Import ▶ OBJ/FBX/USD and import a file, In the popup window, choose Object Type as Trim.
or drag and drop a file (from Library or File Explorer) directly to the Trim Style Window or 3D window.
→ A Trim style is added.
2. Drag the style from the Trim window to the 3D window, apply it, and Glue.
Copy Trim Style & Apply
- Click Copy at the top right in the Trim Style window.
→ A Trim style is duplicated. - Drag onto an existing Trim Style and apply it.
Or after selecting the Trim Style first, click the Assign button to the right of the Trim style.
→ The Trim Style is replaced.
Change Trim Styles
1. Use the Select/Move tool to select a trim in the 3D window.
2. Click the Assign button to the right of the trim style name.
Or drag and drop a Trim style onto the trim you've selected.
→ The selected Trim's style has been changed.
3. Right-click on Trim to Delete / Delete all Unused Trims / Rename (Ver. 2025.0).
※ Note:
The default file format for Trim in Marvelous Designer is .TRM file. Other supported file formats for importing Object Types as trim include .OBJ, .FBX, and .USD.
