Marvelous Designer Support

Objective

Toggle on or off the option to see the distance that Internal tools, an internal lines or internal shapes are from edges of the 2D Pattern that it is within.

Location

2D Display toolbar ▶ Information Display ▶ 2D measurements (ver. 2025.0)

Line Property Editor ▶ 2D measurements (ver. 2025.0)

Main Menu ▶ Display ▶ 2D information ▶ Show 2D Measurements (ver. 2025)

※Note:

• This only works with measuring Internal Shapes & Internal Lines within a Pattern. This will only show the mouse distance when you are using the internal Shape tools.

Operation

Toggle on/off the view options:

1. Follow the indicated guideline below:
   

   Main Menu ▶ Display ▶ 2D information ▶ Show 2D Measurements (ver. 2025)
   2D Display toolbar ▶ Information Display ▶ 2D measurements (ver. 2025.0)

   →Activated 2D distance measurements will show or disappear in the 2D window.

Use with Internal Shape tools 

1. Turn on the Show 2D measurements view options (see Location).
2. go to the 2D pattern Window ▶ 2D toolbar ▶ Internal Shape ▶Select any of the Internal Shape Tools (Internal Polygon/Line , Internal Rectangle, Internal Ellipse. or Dart).
3. Place the cursor over a pattern piece.
   →You will see the purple dashed lines and numbers that indicate the Cursor's distance to the 4 sides of a square pattern piece.  (see image below)

※Note: If you have no internal shapes in the scene or are on the wrong tools it will appear empty or that it does not work. Make sure to work within a 2D pattern and it will show. 

Activate Internal Line or Shape's 2D Measurement Options. 

1. Turn on the Show 2D measurements view options (see Location).
   →All 2D distance measurements are deactivated by default.
2. Select an internal shape or Single internal shape/Line. 
3. Go to the Property Editor ▶ 2D Measurements
   
   

For Shapes

• • Expand 2D Measurements ▶ To Center
    • • Marvelous Designer calculates the distances from the Pattern outline to the center of the Internal Shapes/Lines.
    • Toggle on following options to activate the 2D measurements.  Left, Right, Up, Down
  • Expand 2D Measurements ▶ to OUTLINE
    • • Marvelous Designer calculates the distances from the Pattern outline to the outline of the Internal Shapes/Lines. 
    • Toggle on following options to activate the 2D measurements.  Left, Right, Up, Down

For Internal Line / Segment points

• • Expand 2D Measurements ▶ To Center
    • • Marvelous Designer calculates the distances from the Pattern outline to the outline of the Internal Shapes/Lines.
    • Toggle on following options to activate the 2D measurements.  Left, Right, Up, Down

※Note: 

• You can also apply the Internal Line options to an internal Shape's internal lines or segment point.
• Adding, cutting, making modifications to an internal segment line will remove the measurements options and you will need to apply them again.
• Selecting multiple lines or shapes does applies the operation to each individual asset they are not treated as a group.
