Guide for Installing Network Version on the Internet Environment
Objective
Set up Marvelous Designer/Marvelous Designer Network Version on the Internet environment. Note that you do not need to follow the set-up guidelines below when a Server PC and Client PC are under the same local network environment. Simply plugging the dongle key into a Server PC enables you to run Marvelous Designer or Marvelous Designer on any PCs under the same local network as the Server PC located without any extra settings.
1.) Set-up on Server PC
Operation
1. Plug the dongle key in the Server PC and install the HASP Driver.
HASP Driver gets automatically installed during the software installation. However if any trouble occurs during the process or in case of Server only being connected with the dongle key, HASP Driver should be installed manually.
Guideline for Sentinel HASP Driver Manual Installation
2. Make sure Port 1947 is open in the firewall.
Port 1947 should be automatically opened once the HASP Driver gets installed however, occasionally it fails to open the port in certain PCs. In this case, go to the firewall settings and open the port manually. Port 1947 is being used for communication between the Client PC and dongle key in the Server PC in order to get an authentication. Setting methods varies considerably in the types of firewall, therefore please ask for support from your network manager.
3. Make sure the local IP address of the Server is static.
(Local IP is dynamically allocated Intranet IP by the router.)
The local IP address gets changed when the router is restarted if the local IP is not set in static status. To avoid repetitive IP reset in the process, 'port forwarding', set your Server's local IP as 'static'.
4. Port-forward Port 1947 for TCP and UDP of the Server's local IP in the router setting.
Port-forwarding enables to transmit the data from Client/Server to Server/Client through Port 1947. Port-forwarding method vary considerably in the types of router therefore please ask for support from your network manager.

2.) Set-up on Client PC
Operation
1. Run Marvelous Designer/Marvelous Designer Network Version installer.
2. Make sure Port 1947 is open in the firewall.
Port 1947 should automatically be opened once the HASP Driver gets installed however, occasionally it fails to open the port in certain PCs. In this case, go to the firewall settings and open the port manually. Port 1947 is being used for communication between the Client PC and the dongle key in the Server PC in order to get an authentication. Setting methods varies considerably in the types of firewall, therefore please ask for support from your network manager.
3. Set external IP of the Server on the dongle key configuration to let the software reaches the Server for an authentication.
This can be done through Sentinel Admin Control Center which is automatically installed during the HASP Driver installation.
Access to http://localhost:1947
Click on 'Configuration' (the red box)
4. Click on the third tab, which is called, 'Access to Remote License Managers'.
5. Make sure to check on 'Aggressive Search for Remote License' and to type the Server PC's external IP in 'Specify Search Parameters' (note that the external IP is different from the local IP mentioned in the 'Set-up on Server PC').
You are able to see the external IP of the Server PC on the website (http://www.whatismyip.com/).
