Objective
GoZ allows direct Import and Export of objects between Marvelous Designer and ZBrush.
GoZ Install
Download the installer using the links bellow.
※ Note:
- The above GoZ installer works with Marvelous Designer (ver. 2024.2 and above) and is compatible with ZBrush 2022 and later.
- To access archived version of GoZ for Marvelous Designer 2024.1 and below (for Windows), please download the installer from the link below:
Install GoZ for Marvelous Designer from ZBrush
- Unzip the downloaded zip folder (md_goz_app_[OperatingSystem]_[VersionNumber]), then install GoZ to ZBrush by moving the contents in \MarvelousDesigner\ folder to the following directory:

- Window default directory path: C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZApps\MarvelousDesigner\
- MacOS default directory path: /Users/Shared/Pixologic/GoZApps/MarvelousDesigner/
- ※ Note: For MacOS, after moving the contents in \MarvelousDesigner\ folder to the directory above, go into MarvelousDesigner folder. Please unzip GoZBrushToMarvelousDesigner and GoZInitMarvelousDesigner.

- After you unzip the "MarvelousDesigner" folder to GoZApps folder, run ZBrush.
- Go to ZBrush Main Menu ▶ Preferences ▶ GoZ ▶ path to MarvelousDesigner.
- In the list displayed, click the version of Marvelous Designer you will be using.
- If a Security Warning pop-up window appears ▶ click Run.
- Click 'Install' Button to start GoZ Marvelous Designer installation.
※ Note:
- Please Click Replace if file already exist in the GoZApps\MarvelousDesigner folder.
- If you have multiple versions of Marvelous Designer installed, please note that the newly revamped GoZ for Marvelous Designer is only available for Marvelous Designer version 2024 and above.
- You can verify that the path to the Marvelous Designer executable file is correct by checking in the GoZ_Config.txt file located in the GoZApps\MarvelousDesigner folder.
Reinstall GoZ for Marvelous Designer from ZBrush
- Preform Force Reinstall by going to ZBrush Main menu ▶ Preferences ▶ GoZ ▶ Force Reinstall
- In the list of GoZ enabled application, select Marvelous Designer.
- Click 'Install' Button to start GoZ Marvelous Designer installation
- If a Security Warning pop-up window appears, click Run.
※ Note: To ensure GoZ plugin is working properly with Marvelous Designer, please keep the default name for Marvelous Designer application as it is, and do not modify its name.
Run GoZ from Marvelous Designer
After installing GoZ for Marvelous Designer, you can directly export Garments, Avatars, Trims and Scene and Props from Marvelous Designer with the Run GoZ menu.

Main Menu ▶ GoZ ▶ Export to ZBrush
Operation
- Make sure Path to Marvelous Designer is correctly setup with the version of Marvelous Designer in use in ZBrush.
- Select elements in the scene (Avatar/Garment/Trim/SceneAndProps) to be exported to ZBrush.
- Go to Main Menu ▶ GoZ and select Export to ZBrush.
- In the pop-up window, in Object tabs, you can add and remove scene elements to export.
- Set export setting and click OK button.
- Go to ZBrush, drag in the 3D window.
- In Subtool, you can find Patterns + Trim become a single tool, scene and prop become a single tool, and each avatar becomes a tool of its own.
- PolyGroups are automatically assigned:

Pattern: split per pattern shapes.

Avatar: split per component.

Trim: split per Trim object.

Scene and Prop: split per Scene and Prop.

Export to ZBrush Settings
Object |
Select All Patterns: Select/Deselect all Patterns.

ThinEnsures thickness is not exported to Geometry even if the value is increased beforehand. |

* Reset: Reset all settings to Default.
※ Note:
- For Avatar and Scene and Prop, selecting a part of an object will have the corresponding object in the object list to be selected.
- Selecting only the body of an avatar will result in the entire avatar being selected in the Export to ZBrush dialog.
Run GoZ from ZBrush
You can directly export object to Marvelous Designer from ZBrush through GoZ.

Operation
- Set Import Settings in Marvelous Designer from Main Menu ▶ GoZ ▶ Import Settings
- Under Tool window, make sure Marvelous Designer is set as the current GoZ enabled application by clicking the "R" button shown in the image above.
- Click GoZ button to export currentSubTool to 'GoZ' enabled application, or use the shortcut Ctrl+G
- Click All button to export all SubTools to 'GoZ' enabled application, or use the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+G
- Click Visible button to export visible SubTools to 'GoZ' enabled application.
- Once the object is exported by GoZ, you can see mesh are imported to Marvelous Designer based on Import Setting
