Avatar Properties – Marvelous Designer

Objective

Set the Avatar's properties, such as skin style, eye direction, skin friction, and color of body elements.

Location

3D window ▶ Select Avatar ▶ Property Editor

Operation

Set the Avatar's properties.

When you select an avatar, its properties appear in the property window.

Avatar Properties (ver. 2025.0)

Properties	Description
Information	Name	Enter a name and an item number for the avatar.
	Size	Lists the size Preset chosen from the Avatar Editor.
Body Styling	Skin Style (Ver. 2025.0)	Set the appearance of the avatar from presets or Customize You can manually set the color of hair, skin, underwear, eyebrows, eyes, and lips by clicking the Style Configurator button on the right.
Eye Control (Ver. 2025.0)	Horizontal	Adjust the position of the avatar's eyes horizontally.
	Vertical	Adjust the position of the avatar's eyes vertically.
Surface	Skin Offset	Adjust the distance between the avatar and the garment. Since the avatar and the garment consist of meshes, a very high particle distance and a low Skin Offset value can cause the avatar to protrude out from under the garment. To prevent this, the default Skin Offset value is set to 3mm, which is the proper value for creating a garment. When you fit your garment accurately or create a fitted garment, lower the value of the Skin Offset. ※ Note: Leave the default value until you almost finish your garment, as the simulation will slow down when you lower the Skin Offset of the avatar and the Particle Distance of the garment.
	Static Friction	The friction setting when a garment is in a stationary position.
	Kinetic Friction	The friction setting when a garment is moving.
	Soft Body Simulation (Ver. 2024.0 and above)	Apply a deformable body simulation to express skin elasticity When recording animations, avatar animations with soft body simulation are recorded separately and can be exported to Alembic Cache. For other formats, they will only be exported based on the current frame. ※ Note: When Soft Body Simulation is on, a button is displayed in the bottom right corner of the 3D window to indicate its activation status.
		Soft Body Stiffness	Min - Max: 5,000 - 10,000 The smaller the value, the smoother the simulation.
	Divide Mesh (Ver. 2025.0)	Subdivides the mesh of the avatars to smooth the surface of the avatar. Values are between 1 and 3. Use this feature only when necessary. The denser you set the mesh, the slower the simulation will run. E.g., This works best when you drape a fitted garment, such as leggings, since a low-density avatar mesh may be visible.
Material (Selected)	Set the Material of the selected part of the avatar. For Example: select the eyes and adjust color, base color map, etc.
Miscellaneous	Mesh Type	Indicates the type of selected avatar mesh.
	Element Count	Indicates the number of points in the selected mesh.

Avatar Properties (ver. 2024.2)

Properties	Description
Information	Name	Enter a name and an item number of the avatar.
Model	You can change the type of avatar.

	Division Level	Can be split by a factor of 1 to 5.
