Create puckering
You can create puckering on pattern outlines, inner line segments, and sewing lines.
Apply Puckering
Objective
Apply puckering textures, including normal and base color maps for detailed surface definition and fold points at seams to create realistic-looking fabric gathers and wrinkles along seamlines.
Operation
Segment Puckering
Select a line segment to create puckering.
1. Select the Segment Puckering tool via the path below.
Location
Main Menu → Materials → Puckering → Segment Puckering
2D Window Toolbar → Segment Puckering
2. Click the segment you want to create a puckering for.
Free puckering
You can create puckering on pattern outlines and internal lines regardless of segment points.
1. Select the Free Puckering tool via the path below.
Location
Main Menu → Materials → Puckering → Free Puckering
2D Window Toolbar → Free Puckering
2. Set the first and last points on the line where you want to create the puckering by clicking the mouse.
Seamline Puckering
You can create a puckering on a pattern seamline.
1. Select the Seamline Puckering tool via the path below.
Location
Main Menu → Materials → Puckering → Seamline Puckering
2D Window Toolbar → Seamline Puckering
2. Click on the Sewing Line to create the puckering.
End Result
→ Puckering is created on that line.
→ You can see the puckering created on the 3D Garment.
→ For Seamline Puckering, the puckering will appear on one or both Sewing Lines depending on the 'Placement' set in the Puckering Properties.
※Note:
In the 2D window, you can create puckering in one step by clicking and dragging an area to include all the desired line segments.
Puckering cannot be created twice.
Edit Puckering
You can select and modify the puckering applied (move the position, modify the length/width).
Operation
1. Select the Edit Puckering tool via the path below.
Location
Main Menu ▶ Materials ▶ Puckering ▶ Edit Puckering
2D Window Toolbar ▶ Edit Puckering
Object Browser ▶ Select the Puckering Icon in the Object Browser (Ver. 2025.0)
2. Click & drag to select the line segment or Left-Click on the puckering line to edit the puckering.
3. To delete the puckering, select the puckering line and press the Delete key on the keyboard.
End Result
→ Move Position: Select & drag the puckering line to move the entire line.
→ Modify Length: Click and drag the end point of the puckering to modify the length.
If you right-click while editing the length, a Moving Distance dialogue will appear, allowing you to move it to the desired numerical value.
Puckering Style Properties
Set the properties of a Puckering Style.
Operation
1. Select a puckering object / line with the Edit Puckering tool.
The Properties are displayed in the Property Editor beneath the Object Browser. Edit the selected puckering.

Name | Changes the name of the puckering object. | |

Extend | Extends the start/end of the puckering to the outline of the 2D pattern. | |
Offset | Offset | Adjusts the distance the puckering is spaced from the pattern outline. Include or exclude the width of the puckering from the spacing as needed. |
Z Offset |
Adjust the Z-axis distance of the puckering. | |
Placement |
Both Sides |
*For Puckering on Internal Lines only. Check the box to have Puckering appear on both sides of the Internal Line. |
Flip |
*For Puckering on Internal Lines only. Check the box to flip the puckering to the other side of the internal line. |
2. Another option is to right-click on the applied puckering with Edit Puckering active to apply the options as needed.

Assign Puckering Style
Applies the Puckering style to the selected Puckering lines.
Apply with a generated Puckering style
1. When generating Puckering: After selecting a Puckering style in the Puckering window, it will be applied as the selected style when generated.
2. Apply after Puckering is created: Select a Puckering line and click the 'Apply' button to the right of the Puckering style.
Apply as a new Puckering Style
1. Select a Puckering line and add it with the 'Assign' button at the top of the Puckering window.
2. Select a Puckering line and add it to the 'Assign to New Puckering' menu from the right-click menu.
Puckering Style Properties
You can adjust the properties of the Puckering style to achieve different forms of puckering.
When you select a Puckering Style in the Puckering window, the Puckering Style properties appear in the Properties window.
Open/Save Puckering Styles: You can save and recall styles via the Open and Save buttons at the top of the properties window.

Show/Hide Puckering
You can show or hide the overall puckering.
Steps
1. In the 2D window
Location
Main Menu → Display → Materials → Show Puckering
View icon in 2D window → 2D Sewing → Show Puckering
2. In the 3D window
Location
Main Menu → Display → Materials → Show Puckering
View icon in 3D window → 3D Trims Display → Show Puckering
End Result
→ You can show or hide all the created puckering in the window.
