Merge Vertex by Proximity at Export

Objective

Merge vertices across patterns by proximity, without relying on sewing relationships, producing a single unified mesh which is "air-tight" across seams.

This is especially useful for geometry which has been created using the Retopology Tools within Marvelous Designer.  Once the new topology has been finalized, any sewing relationships are removed - so the previous sewing-relationship-based method of merging vertices at export would not be effective.

Main Menu ▶ File ▶ Export ▶ OBJ ▶ Merge Vertex By Proximity

Operation

1. Load a project file with either traditional dynamic Marvelous Designer (Delaunay Triangulation) pattern meshes or non-dynamic pattern meshes created with the Retopology Tools in Marvelous Designer.

2. Export the mesh through expanding the File dropdown-menu, selecting Export, then selecting OBJ.

3. Set the file path for the OBJ and click Save. 
   → Export OBJ pop-up window appears.

4. Check the option box for Merge Vertex by Proximity, above the option box for "Unified UV Coordinates".
   → If the option is checked, the Weld and Thickness options are not available. 

5. Set the Merge Distance in listed scene units (mm by default).

6. Preview the merged vertices in the (3D mesh) window.. 
   → Vertices which will be Merged can be highlighted in Red. 
   → Vertices which will not be Merged can be highlighted in Blue.

7. Click OK
